TAQA Qualifications

What is a TAQA Award?TAQA

A TAQA Award is an award in Training, Assessment and Quality Assurance.  This award replaces the old A1/A2 Assessor awards.

Who would need/want a TAQA Award?

Anybody who wants to use their knowledge and skills to assess Apprenticeships and NVQ’s.  For example, you could be a plumber, a hairdresser or a retail assistant.  People looking to change their career could become assessors or people who want to share their skills and knowledge.

Do I need any qualifications to do the course?

You need a good standard of English and at least two years experience in your chosen field of work.

Where can I work when I have my award?

When you have qualified, you can find work in colleges of Higher Education or you could work for a training provider.  Other options are becoming a self-employed assessor or you could do the Award in Education and Training course and become a teacher in a college.

Work at your own pace.

Candidates work at their own pace and can complete the award in twelve weeks to twelve months, with an average being three-months. This award does not require 10-12 weeks attendance at the centre, so is very suitable for people who work shifts. The online system provides 24/7 access to the assignments and assessor feedback.

All of your assignments are completed and stored online and, as such, can be accessed from any venue with access to the internet. This means you can complete your award from work or home.

There is no requirement to write an essay. The Award is broken down into small bite sized chunks making it achievable for busy people.

Our assessors recognise that each candidate is unique and plan person-centred progress throughout with regular access to a personal-assessor. This is ideal for those who are nervous, or who have not completed formal education for a while, or who are just simply busy.
